别看我现在的成绩在年级前几名，可以前的我却是一个差生。在小学六年级之前，我是班上一个不起眼的学生，个子矮矮的，上课不活跃，考试成绩位列倒数。我在学校里过着浑浑噩噩的日子。

直到有一天，我因类风湿住进了医院，被迫休学，这一休学就是两年。这两年里，我每天面对的是打针吃药。躺在病床上，感觉万念俱灰，每天盼望着一天快点过去，又不希望新的一天快点到来，对我来说，每天都是难以忍受的折磨。也许是长久遭受病痛折磨的缘故，也许是折磨使我几近愤怒，从最初的嚎哭到后来的沉默，我忍受着，忍受着，慢慢的，我发现我能安静下来，再后来，我看见窗外一抹阳光，我看到了窗外空地上枯草丛中几点新绿。我那久已干涸的心灵泛起涟漪，我的心跳加速了，跳动着，跳动着，终于，我愤怒了，不在沉默中灭亡，就在沉默中爆发，我的嘴唇被牙齿咬出了血，从牙缝里狠狠蹦出一个字，“不”!

后来我积极配合治疗，每天脸上挂着微笑。终于，我出院了，不久，我回到了阔别已久的学校，父母和老师都劝我直接进入六年级，可是我毅然选择重读了五年级。尽管我要面对新的陌生的同学，尽管我要遭受原来班级同学的嘲笑，可这些与我生病困在医院，备受病痛折磨之苦来比，已经不值一提。从此我不再害羞，也不再怕这怕那。课堂上，我总是第一个举手回答问题，一下课，我就追着老师问题目，我不再在乎看那一张张陌生的脸，我不在乎我是一个留级生的身份。也正是因为我是一个留级生，时常以不能做到班级第一名为耻辱，这种耻辱迫使我比班上任何一个同学都努力，正所谓“有志者，事竟成，破釜沉舟，百二秦关终属楚。

苦心人，天不负，卧薪尝胆，三千越甲可吞吴”。终于，功夫不负有心人，小学五六年级，我成绩优异，曾做过两次班上第二名，四次班上第一名。我摇身一变，由原来的差生变成了优生。小六毕业考试，我以优异的成绩考入初中，至今，我还在优秀生的行列，正满怀激情和斗志，向湘潭县一中进军。

很多时候，我都在想，如果我没有经受那次挫折，那个差生的名号很有可能现在还在我心里，这辈子我想要靠读书闯出一条出路恐怕已不大可能。说不定现在的我会连考高中的信心也会没有。如果没有经受那次挫折，现在我就不会站在这里自信的演讲。是挫折成就了一个全新的我。

noise-making is another ancient custom at the new year. the noise is considered necessary to chase away the evil spirits of the old year. people around the world do different things to make a lot of noise. they may hit sticks together. or beat on drums. or blow horns. or explode fireworks.
